Riverside, CA – John W. North High School was placed on lockdown earlier today following reports of a bomb threat on campus. Riverside Police Department officers responded promptly to the incident, working closely with school administrators to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff.
According to initial reports, the threat appeared to be a hoax; however, school officials and law enforcement acted with caution and immediately implemented a shelter-in-place procedure. The lockdown protocol required students and staff to remain in secure locations while police conducted a thorough and systematic search of the entire campus.
The investigation, which lasted approximately one hour, concluded with no suspicious devices found. Riverside Police confirmed that there was no credible threat to the safety of the school community, and the lockdown was subsequently lifted. Following the all-clear, normal school operations resumed, and students were allowed to continue with their classes.
As a precaution, additional Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) School Resource Officers remained on campus until dismissal to ensure the continued safety and security of students and staff. School administrators expressed gratitude to parents, students, and staff for their cooperation during the lockdown and praised the swift response of law enforcement.
“This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness and collaboration between schools and law enforcement,” stated a Riverside Police spokesperson. “While we are relieved that the threat was determined to be unfounded, the safety of students and staff is always our top priority.”
Authorities are continuing to investigate the source of the bomb threat and are urging anyone with information to come forward. The school and police emphasized that reporting any suspicious activity remains a critical part of keeping the community safe.
John W. North High School officials have also reminded students and parents that safety procedures and emergency protocols are in place to protect the school community in such situations.
